NRL Group to support 40 charities to mark 40th year

The NRL Group, including colleagues in the Linx business has announced their intentions to financially support 40 charities to mark their 40th year in business in 2023.

Established in 1983 to deliver Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services to the civil nuclear industry in Cumbria, the organisation has grown their international coverage and service offering extensively over the past four decades. Operating from 13 regional bases, they now provide technical and engineering Recruitment, NDT, Rail maintenance contracting, Workforce Solutions and Translation and Interpreting solutions. As the company has grown from a small team to a global workforce of 145, giving back continues to be the key foundation on which the company was first established.

A family-owned business, colleagues regularly join the leadership team in their desire to help others, and support initiatives in their local community which are important to them. As well as using the company’s position as leaders in their fields of expertise to support trade-led initiatives such as the Lighthouse Club construction industry charity, and the Social Mobility Pledge.

Keen to do something to celebrate the four-decade milestone, the business decided supporting 40 charities would be the perfect way as they reflected on their continued growth. Shortly after establishing NRL’s NDT operations at Sellafield in 1983, the opportunity to provide engineering recruitment services was identified and a new service offering established in 1985. After continuing to grow expertise providing recruitment of maintenance workers into the rail sector, NRL subsequently set-up a Rail contracting business in 2001 to deliver these services directly. As their recruitment operations continued to grow both across the UK and internationally, the Linx consultancy business was established to help organisations look at their recruitment supply chain and identify efficiencies that drive flexibility and compliance. Whilst the acquisition of North East based CD Group in early 2022, further strengthened NRL’s UK and international recruitment expertise as well as welcoming on board translation and interpreting services. These businesses within the NRL Group will join to support the 40 charities for 40 years initiative.

The 40 charities will be decided by colleagues across the business, as they identify the causes they want to support. With NRL’s Group Executive Board committing £500 per charity, colleagues will be aiming to match the business’ donations with their own fundraising, as well as using their paid charity leave to volunteer and provide practical help where it’s needed.

Commenting on the 40 charities for 40 years initiative NRL Group CEO David Redmayne said,

“From my father’s first year in business, it’s been important to the NRL Group to be able to give back and ensure we’re playing our part in helping regional and national causes. As we continue to celebrate success, it’s even more important to us that’s we’re supporting charities and initiatives that are doing so much good in the world.
It’s extremely rewarding to know that as our business grows and we’re able to welcome onboard new colleagues, everyone across the business shares this interest in giving back and personally supporting charities. We’ve seen so many great examples over recent years, from running marathons to cycling the length of the country and sponsoring teams of novice rowers to travel across the Atlantic Ocean. So, I’m looking forward to seeing what our teams get up to this year, as we mark our 40th year through our support for 40 charities.”
